North Yuba is home to some of the finest wines, olive oils and hand-crafted foods in California. Nestled in the Sierra Foothills between 1500-2000' elevation, its mountain terroir drives flavor deep into fruit, resulting in products of rich varietal character.
Just a drive-in-the-country away from Marysville, Chico, Grass Valley, Nevada City, Sacramento and beyond, the Harvest Festival is largest community event here each year, bringing together the bestregional producers and those who enjoy taking home the best of the best.
Admission is free, a $5 donation for parking helps The Improvement Foundation’s Alcouffe Community Center, and the Festival Wine Tasting Sampling Glass is $10.
North Yuba is the most awarded olive oil region in the Americas, featuring Gold Medal producers and Best of Show winners such as Calolea www.calolea.com Sierra d'oro. www.sierradoro.com Athenas Grove, Sutter Buttes Olive Ranch and Apollo Olive Oil www.apollooliveoil.com was recently recognized as one of the top ten producers of premium olive oil in the world for 2006, and produced the top-rated oil outside the Mediterranean!
Wine producers include Renaissance www.rvw.com, of which Matt Kramer (Wine Spectator) has said "Renaissance makes some of California's finest Cabernets, bar none." The region also is home to many fine craftsmen. We have rustic wooden works, fine hand made woolens by Jane Cooper, remarkable musicians and entertainers like Wild Bill Galvin.
